Todhead Lighthouse, Catterline

£950.00
20 x 20 cm

Todhead lighthouse lies just over 10 miles down the coast from Stonehaven and it's a landmark that's often featured it in my paintings of Catterline.

It's painted bright white and has a very geometric look, like a few Lego bricks thrown together. These are features that I usually exaggerate but in this painting I've chosen to go for a more subtle, slightly mist-covered effect.

The Home Studio Collection

When trying out new ideas or exploring new themes, it makes sense to work on a small scale. However, I know that, as far as my own work is concerned, I put as much thought and effort into my small paintings as for any of the bigger pieces. And, in fact, sometimes the smaller works, have a spontaneity or 'va va voom' which can be hard to replicate in larger work so I’m delighted to have found an exclusive outlet for these smaller works which are such a vital part of my creative output.
