Picasso had a 'blue period' and a 'rose period’; I have my 'dog walking' period.
They’re simple compositions, all about being out in the Mearns countryside and the ‘feel of the day’. I walk the dog two or three times a day and, often, I'm in a 'dwam' (i.e. only vaguely aware of the topography of my surroundings) but nevertheless acutely aware of the sensate experience. So whilst these paintings aren’t meant to reflect a particular ‘view’, it represents a record of a place as experienced by me. Thankfully it’s been my great good fortune for many years to have an audience who are happy to share that experience with me...
